Snoozelen Room

The Snoozelen Room is a sensory wonderland of sights, sounds, touch and aroma. This relaxing environment partly funded by the Anniesland Area Budget Team has helped to transform the lives of the users and visitors of Antonine Court by providing a room for relaxation and stress management.

This allows staff to provide a holistic approach to the management of stress through sensory therapies.

Sensory rooms come in different formats but in general terms they are a relaxing and stimulating space from everyday life, an area which is fascinating to the user and a place to look forward to using, designed to be passive and calming for use by people with differing needs.

The use of the aromatherapy diffuser helps to spread relaxing smells throughout the room aiding relaxation. The roots of aromatherapy can be traced back over 3,500 BC when it was used as aromatic medicine, since then it is widely used to de-stress, calm and bring tranquillity and harmony into the lives of those using its therapy.

The fibre optics provide an exciting safe way to get light close to a person and provide a mesmerising effect that can be calming and therapeutic .

The Snoozelen Room helps to promote all the senses of the body whilst encouraging relaxation.
