The Independent Living Kitchen is an area which is situated at the rear of the building and is adjacent to the Main Hall. This area hosts an adapted Kitchen i.e. lower worktops, specialised cutting utensils etc; where Healthy Eating and Bakery Groups take place on various mornings and afternoons. Healthy Eating is a popular choice on the Activities Programme as it aids in rehabilitation to those who have lost their ability to undertake daily tasks which many take for granted. The aim of this group is to promote healthy and nutritional eating, maintaining a low fat, low salt diet whilst learning new recipes each week, which the service users choose themselves. This group proves to be highly therapeutic, boosting confidence and self esteem whilst helping hand to eye co-ordination and being educational. All staff are fully qualified in Food Hygiene. |
